Parts Used: Leaves. Methods Used: Water extraction.

Spiritual Uses: The Druids considered every fern to be a Sacred Tree.

Carry the dried fronds for luck. All ferns are considered to be powerful protectors.

Burn indoors to erect a wall of protection. Burn outdoors to bring rain.

Physical Uses: A decoction can help to relieve cough and congestion.

It is also effective in treating hoarseness and sore throat.

May be used with other herbs to increase their effectiveness.

Used since antiquity as a hair tonic.

Preparation:

TEA:

  1. Boil one cup of water.
  2. Add 2 teaspoonfuls of dried fern and stir briefly. Cover.
  3. Continue to boil for 3-4 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and allow to cool in a covered container.
  5. Strain out herb and discard.
  6. Dosage is 1-2 cups per day.
